Still Journey

copyright 2004

Late summer’s providence walked right to my door

I was looking up sitting quietly on the floor

You gave me a smile and we walked into a storm

I don’t know if the rain or our tears kept us warm

So listen up now and hear what I say

You did your best with what you’d been given

And now there’s an old part of you once again living

Nothing is pure, my friend, no matter what you’ve been told

Take a long hard look in the mirror and try to let a little bit go

You know that love is healing some small part of you

But you keep looking over your shoulder as if it’s all that you can do

This may be the very hardest work that you’ve ever done

But when you’re on a still journey there is no place to run.

So now here you are in the belly of the whale

Looking for signs and sages everywhere

There is no need to bait your time though the longest winds may howl

Just stand here in the storm with me with the warm rain falling down

Just stand here in the storm with me with the warm rain falling down
